Hawaii County Coordinated Services for the Elderly will issue ID cards for seniors 60 years and older from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Kohala CSE.

The staff will also issue cards from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Walmart in Kailua-Kona; 9 to 11 a.m. June 25 at the L. Yoshimatsu Senior Center in Waimea; and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 26 at the West Hawaii Civic Center, Building B.

West Hawaii Hui Laulima meets Friday

West Hawaii Hui Laulima will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday in the community meeting room at the West Hawaii Community Health Center.

Executive Director of Alahou Clean and Sober Sandra McCoy will discuss the organization’s history, funding and access to its services. The organization’s mission is “To enable clean and sober living in a safe, recovery-focused, therapeutic community environment that is owned, operated, and maintained by program participants.”

Imiloa to host Wayfinding Talk

Imiloa Astronomy Center will host its summer 2013 Wayfinding Talk, with presentations by author Sam Low and Pwo Navigator Nainoa Thompson, at 7 p.m. Friday.

Low will introduce his new book, “Hawaiki Rising,” which tells the tale of the formation of the Polynesian Voyaging Society, the 1976 and 1980 voyages, and the 2007 Pwo, sacred initiation, of five Hawaiian men into the hierarchy of traditional navigators.

Following Low’s talk, Thompson will speak on Malama Honua, the upcoming worldwide journey of voyaging canoes Hokulea and Hikianalia.
